Herpes labialis (cold sores)
Cold sores are a bothersome infection caused by herpes simplex. Herpes simplex is a virus that affects the mucous membranes and causes redness and blistering. The first symptoms of oral herpes are mild stinging, a sensation of warmth and reddening of the area.
Cold sores, like most viral infections, tend to be recurring, meaning that they often come back, which is why it is important to treat them with specific products.
The main causes of oral herpes are:
- fever or cold
- menstrual cycle
- exposure to UVA and UVB rays
- wind and cold
Oral herpes may appear whenever the defenses of our immune system are weakened.
