Dandruff is a very common nuisance. It can often cause embarrassment but it is important to remember that many people have suffered from it since it can be caused by stress, poor diet or scalp formation.
Dandruff appears as small white or yellowish flakes in the scalp and is often associated with itching and redness.
There are 2 main types of dandruff: oily and dry.
Both improve with the sun, so this problem generally diminishes during the summer.
Dry skin is the main cause of dry dandruff which, as mentioned, is the whitish type that ends up on the shoulders. Oily dandruff, on the other hand, is mainly caused by seborrheic dermatitis. This form of dermatitis makes the scalp oily and is what causes the oily yellowish flakes to form.
This disorder can also be caused by scalp eczema and malassezia, a yeast that grows on the scalp.
In these cases, especially when there is itching and burning, it is very important that the proper shampoo be used to clean the scalp, but without being too aggressive.
The proper shampoo must have a dermopurifying action that can help prevent and treat dandruff, even in the case of seborrheic dermatitis, while respecting the physiological balance of the hair and scalp.
